Dallas, TX - Each year, pureHOPE offers a compelling summer internship designed to train a team of undergraduate students who are passionate about opposing the great evil of our day - modern sex trafficking. It is estimated that as many as 300,000 children in America are victims of sex trafficking each year. The organization welcomes applications from mature Christian students from all educational focuses who desire the opportunity to spend a summer understanding the connections between trafficking, porn, the sexualized culture, and what it means to pursue a lifestyle of justice.
"It is well recognized that Christians are at the forefront of the anti-trafficking movement," explains Noel Bouché, president of pureHOPE. "pureJUSTICE is our vision for the church to become a city on a hill, shining justice and mercy into the darkness of exploitation. Our pureJUSTICE internship is key to achieving that vision."
The eight-week internship is located in Dallas, Texas and spans June 17 to August 9, 2013 and focuses on Outreach, Professional Development and Spiritual Formation. The pureJUSTICE internship's purpose is to raise up advocates who are equipped to lead their generation in pursuing holiness and opposing the injustice of commercial sexual exploitation by modeling lives of everyday justice.
In an atmosphere of prayer and fellowship, interns will learn about the global sex trade, relevant news, laws and policies, and the basics of rescue and aftercare. They will also be given training and experience in research, writing, public speaking, and movement building, as well as have the opportunity to network with experts and activists from across the country. Most importantly, they will grow in their intimacy with God through Bible study, prayer, worship, and mentoring.
"The responsibility you're given is much greater than in most other internships," explains Craig, an intern from Texas A&M in 2009. "The experience equipped me to pursue love, purity and justice in my profession."
William from Pittsburg State University attended pureJUSTICE in 2010. He explains, "It was a life-changing experience. The pureJUSTICE internship was the best job I've ever had. It's more than an internship, it's a lifestyle."
Unlike the majority of summer internships, once accepted, interns receive reimbursement for travel to and from Dallas, as well as an $800 stipend to offset food and personal expenses during the program.
Candidates must be between 18 to 23 years of age and enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Applicants need to submit a cover letter, statement of faith, resume and two recommendation letters to Aszia Walker at aszia@purehope.net by Friday March 15, 2013. These submissions need to include information that describes your passion for the anti-trafficking movement, relevant skills and how you believe this internship will advance your personal and professional development and goals.
